Soldering Basics with sheet metal online workshop 28/09/22 2pm - 5pm
This workshop will cover
· Soldering wire to sheet metal
· Sweat soldering, soldering flat components together.
You will complete projects such as:
1. Layered copper pendant
2. Earrings incorporating ear wires
Materials you will need:
· 0.4mm copper sheet
· Optional silver sheet or solderable elements/components
· 0.8mm copper wire or sterling silver wire (for ear wires)
· Syringe of simple solder or soft solder sheet with liquid flux
· Pickle for cleaning silver (instructions on how to make your own will be taught)
Tools Required for this session include:
· jewellers/german or coping saw with blades
· bench peg if using a saw)
· Steel block
· Ballpein hammer
· Needle files
· Gas torch
· Firing block
· Glass or metal vessels for cold water
· Glass or ceramic vessel for hot water (pickle)
· tweezers
· Sanding block or nail buffing block
· Bail making pliers or mandrels
· Basic jewellery making tool kit
