Ink & Doodle- Meditative Mandalas online workshop. 20/01/23 - 10am-4pm
Join Gemma and Laura for a day exploring alcohol ink background techniques and dot art embellishments. This lovely workshop will help you relax and create beautiful works of art at the same time.
10am – 12:30pm
Laura will guide you through several techniques to create interesting and alternative backgrounds for your dot art mandalas. We will discuss colours, their spiritual value and associated chakras.
The backgrounds will cover three themes:
Night
Day
Chakras
1:30pm – 4pm
Gemma will guide you through planning a mandala, creating stencils and templates, mixing acrylic paint to the correct consistency and using tools to create consistent dots.
We will experiment with various techniques associated with dot art to compose beautiful mandalas.
Tools and Materials
morning session
Suitable alcohol ink papers or primed canvasses.
A selection of alcohol ink hues
Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol)
An air puffer or blowing device
Latex gloves (or similar)
Paper towels (for spillages/clean up)
Afternoon session
Plain A4 paper (printer paper is perfect)
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
White marker/gel pen (or some mark making pen or pencil that will stand out on your alcohol ink paintings)
Mixing palette
Water pot
Paper towels
Acrylic paints (colours are welcome though the demonstration will be in black or white or metallic)
Dotting tools (specific dotting/doming tools can be used, though other items such as the ends of pencils or paint brushes, small dowel rods, any small cylindrical items such as mandrels can also be utilised)
